Here is an update on my Sculptris Dragon I decided to redo my dragon as it was not good enough so Here is my new dragon inspired from chinese dragons.

Here is my final concept, I used christmas tree baubles as a replacement for grenades and candy canes for flares. I really love this concept I like how the present is squeezing out of the launcher I think this concept is exactly how I wanted it to be.

Wednesday 14th Nov Plane Crash Final Concept Coloured

I feel really good about this concept, I like the night image better though because i feel the sparks of the wires in the plane show more and make more sense on how bright they are. I also like how the shadows on the man turned out.

Here is my sketchso far, I'm just finding it very difficult to imagine the concept, i  attempted using 3d models to trace but even those came out looking wrong perspective wise.
I am happy with the plane here the idea is that i has crashed into the street dragging up some of the concrete pavement.

Wednesday 24th Oct Tree Final Piece

 

 

My idea for this guy was a world 'destoryed' or wiped of mammal/human life, trees however managed to survive, and miss the beauty of nature and rebuilds from its memory, hence a deer with roots for feet and bark on its body sprouting cherry blossoms.

I feel that this tree has lots of character as trees often twist into shapes and are sometimes reminesant of different things and often look like they have a face or look like an animal. I don't feel that it looks as a character. But I do feel I could've done something abit better and more scenic.

Tuesday 23rd Oct Halloween Moodboards with Sketches and the Final Concept

I liked the idea of a creepy girl at the end of a corrider but decided against it as you would lose the detail of the girl I felt.

I really liked this short sketch of a woman smiling in the mirror and looking pretty from the front but then we can see that behind she is covered in blood holding a knife.

I decided to go with a horror themed Cheshire Cat inspired from the lady in the mirror sketch. I like the contrast of animal/human and the eyes I feel came out really well, but I think I need to look more at how blood looks to make that look more realistic.

I really wanted to do a tree that looked like the animal. I don't think it will stray from the giving the tree character and not making it a character.

so basically i wanted to make it look like the cats were high and thats how they could dance, i thought adding a psychedelic-ish background could help with that since its a common thing for movies to show a psychedelic background for stoners. I messed about adding a dance floor disco ball and stuff but I dunno which one looks right but  i like it cats!

Tuesday 16th Oct Surreal Sketches

In this image I had wanted to paint a typical mermaid using aquatic colour and placing her with a space background. I had hoped to add whales and other aquatic creatures, i thought this kind of idea was interesting but I was not completely dedicated to it, so maybe an idea for a future picture?

 For this image I was inspired by a musical , 'Repo Genetic Opera' the idea behind the musical is that you can now replace almost any part of your body with mechanically engineered organs, skin anything literally and you can also upgrade these. the idea behind her smile was inspired by the character Pavlo, whos face is literally a mask held on by streching it over these hooks on his face. The smile itself was taken from the joker as his smile is pretty creepy and awesome.
The image above this, the one which looks half scanned in, was done by accident when the scanner was scanning I forgot to put in the image and quickly tried putting on my sketchbook to try again, but I thought this outcome was kind of cool/interesting it reminded me abit of sci fi kind of things. Been reading a book called neuromancer recomended by our theory tutor and from what I ve gathered you can kind of upload yourself to a cyberspace? thats what this image reminded me of xD

Next I thought of moving on to more funny things alice in wonderland cat? I like cats and alice in wonderland so I tried seeing if i coulld create a humorous image using the juxtaposition of the cat alice and a tea party mouse? I think its funny but maybe not so surreal?

My final and chosen image is going to be cats dancing in a disco, i think its funny to pointof not making sense and its cats who wont like that?

Thursday 11th Oct Surreal MoodBoards

I started off looking at general surrealist images to get an idea of what I could do.

I figured that alot of surrealism can seem quite dark and others can appear very comical.

 

 

 

I then began looking at undersea creatures, as I thought that drawing a mermaid in space would've seemed very mysterious and surreal.

 

 

 

But then again I really like dthe idea of doing a comical surrealist image. So I started looking at cats in funny jumping poses.

 

Monday 10th Oct Robot Final Piece

 

 

 

 

 

I decided to use the broken robot concept as i felt i could do alot with the colour and it looked how I wanted it to.

I wantd to make the wires coming out of her seem like they were weapons, that she could stretch and twist / control. I had trouble because i wanted to create spark effects but wasn't too sure how to.
